Protecting Vulnerable PopulationsPROTECT YOUR STATE'S MOST VULNERABLE CITIZENS WITH AN INTEGRATED BACKGROUND CHECK SYSTEM

In 2003, the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act authorized the creation of the 2004 Background Check Pilot Program. In 2010, the pilot program was expanded and funded through section 6201 of the Affordable Care Act. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) new background check demonstration project provides a unique opportunity for states to improve their approach to background checks and develop more efficient, sustainable programs at the same time.

Our approach to improving background check programs combines the best-practice system design demonstrated in the CMS pilot and a web-based software platform designed to work with multiple registries, rap-back systems and State Police and FBI fingerprint checks.

BUILDING UPON SUCCESS
The Yale New Haven Health System Center for Healthcare Solutions (YNHHS-CHS) Background Check Program is
a collaborative initiative between YNHHS-CHS,
Drs. Lori A. Post and Fuad Abujarad, of the Yale School of Medicine and Dr. Sarah J. Swierenga, of Michigan State University Usability/Accessibility Research and Consulting.

Given our team’s previous experience with the CMS pilot project, we offer a range of support to facilitate getting your project launched successfully and completed on time. YNHHS-CHS provides planning, assessments, software system design, training and system maintenance services. Our proven solutions have been demonstrated to increase efficiency and effectiveness as well as significantly lower costs associated with conducting background checks.
